MY CONTRIBUTIONS

I led the end-to-end design of EMpro — from brand identity and logo creation, through a pre-launch landing page, to the full virtual conference platform. The conference ran over several days, with multiple simultaneous sessions and virtual booths that attendees could freely navigate, creating the feel of a real live event — entirely online.

THE RESEARCH

We conducted in-depth interviews with musicians, producers, and music enthusiasts to understand what they truly needed from a networking and learning platform — and what was currently missing in the space.

THE PAIN POINTS

Many artists struggled to find quality networking beyond their immediate circle. Newcomers had no clear entry point into the professional world, while established creators lacked a structured way to share knowledge and discover new talent.

USER PERSONA

Two personas shaped every design decision — representing the two sides of the EMpro audience: the emerging artist looking for her first real foothold, and the seasoned professional ready to give back.

JULIA LEWIS

Judy is a 30-year-old music enthusiast who plays the guitar. She's often found at parties, DJing or simply enjoying the vibe. Given her passion, it's no surprise she works in the music industry.

PAIN POINTS

She is motivated to grow professionally but feels she's not being challenged enough in her current role.

She wants to make a bigger impact in the industry.

GOALS

Julia aims to expand her skillset and connect with other music professionals to further her career.

JOSH MILLR

Josh is a seasoned DJ and music producer with a proven track record of performing at major events.

Passionate about music and the lifestyle it affords, he is dedicated to mentoring up-and-coming artists and helping them reach their full potential.

PAIN POINTS

Josh is passionate about giving opportunities to talented artists who are struggling to get noticed in the industry.

He recognizes that many talented artists lack the necessary tools and guidance to succeed.

GOALS

Josh aims to provide emerging artists with the right tools and mentorship to help them reach their full potential.

He wants to create a platform for these artists to showcase their talent and connect with a wider audience.

THE PLATFORM

The virtual conference was structured around multiple exhibition booths running simultaneously — each hosting a different lecture or session. Attendees could freely choose which booth to enter, giving them full control over their own conference experience.

The design challenge was to make a virtual space feel as dynamic and navigable as a real physical event, with a clear sense of place and movement between sessions.

SCHEDULE & WAYFINDING

With multiple sessions happening in parallel, orientation was key. Each exhibition booth was assigned its own distinct color — carried consistently through the schedule view, so attendees could instantly identify which session belonged to which booth.

This color system turned the schedule from a simple list into an intuitive wayfinding tool, reducing cognitive load and letting users focus on the content rather than the navigation.

LOGO DESIGN

The logo was built around an electronic, high-energy aesthetic — reflecting the DJ and electro music culture at the heart of the conference. The mark combines sharp, signal-inspired geometry with motion, communicating both technology and sound in a single mark.
